Becoming ‘Those who See’

“I choose to become the ‘I see you’ in a world full of ‘you’re not enough’”.

–Patricia Seymour

As visionaries, it’s common to focus on the gap between where we are and where we hope to be. When working in communities marked by deep poverty, it’s easy to see what’s lacking. In a world filled with war, injustice, natural disasters, and suffering, finding the ‘not enough’ comes naturally.

But this year, God called us to rejoice.

As we leaned into that call, we became those who see

We saw the good in one another as we celebrated victories and milestones together. We saw the beauty of God’s work in our ministry as we rejoiced in the fruit of changed lives around the world. And most importantly, we saw God Himself as we turned our eyes to His faithfulness.

A Story from Mozambique

We want to close this year by sharing one more story of God’s goodness, this time from a small coastal village in Mozambique.

Yuran lived in a community where most people practiced traditional religion, including witchcraft and divination. Yuran himself was a traditional healer, someone others came to for help.

The local church was small, just twenty-six members. But like many in his village, Yuran saw Christianity as a threat to his beliefs and livelihood. Many sought to harm the Christians.

Shortly after the church began studying TCT, tragedy struck. Yuran’s house caught fire, destroying everything his family owned.

Despite the mistreatment and differing beliefs, the church responded in love. Church members gathered clothes, food, and kitchen supplies. The men went into the forest to gather trees and grass and built a new home.

Surprised and grateful, Yuran told other relatives about what the church did for him. Yuran’s family and four other families decided to join the church.

The Ultimate Display of God’s Goodness

As we approach Christmas, we remember that God’s goodness is most perfectly displayed in His son, who took on human form so that we can rejoice in Him forever

Our prayer for you this Christmas is that you will rejoice deeply in the goodness of God and that you will experience the love of God in ways you never have before.

To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb

be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!  (Revelation 5:13)
