I think it is safe to say that everybody likes a good story. There is something about a plot thick with intrigue and suspense that draws you in wanting for more.
As I take the time to sit and think about the purpose and direction of this initiative I am continually drawn to God’s story. God is on a mission to redeem and love people. What’s amazing is that He has invited His followers into the very heart of this mission, His story. It’s a story with an ending we can be confident in, but a plot still evolving.
This project is really about revealing God’s story to the world… around us… everyday… in every moment. It’s about living “missions” as a result of a deep passion to know and love Jesus at the core. It’s really my story and your story becoming part of God’s story.
I am excited about where this project will take us. I truly believe that God wants more of each of us. He is drawing us in, to show and teach us about His immeasurable love for all of humanity. He wants us mobilized, energetic and meek not for doing tasks but for loving Him. A radical witness and service that models Christ’s amazing love and builds God’s kingdom.
We will wrestle with lots of tough, challenging and threatening ideas. Working and serving the poor and vulnerable is not easy and there are certainly no quick results. But God has called us (Mark 12:31) and with His calling has come His Scriptures (Psalms 119:105), which informs our ways, and the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17), which will direct our ways.
This blog will seek to share three types of knowledge, which I hope will help you create a framework for loving your neighbor and serving the vulnerable in your community.
Analytical/practical: With every good theory must come practical application. Blogs in this category will give useful steps, ideas and viewpoints for understanding and living out this project. God’s story was meant to be lived out!
Philosophical/theoretical: Behind every good application is a full-bodied theory. Blogs in this category will be aimed at unpacking some theology to help us in our missions and outreach. We want to solidify our roots in order to produce good fruit.
Stories/personal experiences: There is no better way to learn, than to learn from others. These blogs will share mine and others failures, questions, doubts, successes, fears and results in loving our neighbors and the world around us. We’re in this journey together!
The Lord has been gracious in teaching me through my own journey and pursuit in missions, and I have no doubt that God has been working throughout your story as well. I believe there is so much more to be written and I hope that you will continually ask God for direction as you seek to live out His mission. And with that, please, share your stories, comments and ideas with us. We’re in this to learn together.
God is in the midst of writing His story, how will your chapter be written?
